Pay data: three months to October 2022

Various pay research organisations have published pay data for the three months to the end of October 2022, as well as predictions for the future.

  • XpertHR recorded a median basic pay award of 4.0% across the whole economy for the three months to the end of September (lower quartile: 3.2%; upper quartile: 7.6%).
  • Incomes Data Research also show the median at 4% for the same period: interquartile range 3.0% to 5.0%.
  • The CIPD’s Autumn Labour Market Outlook shows the median expected basic pay increase at 4% for all employers, the highest overall net figure in the LMO’s current time series dating back to 2012. Expected pay awards in the private sector have risen to a median of 5%. The figure stands at 4% for the voluntary sector and 3% in the public sector.
  • The Salary Budget Planning Report from Willis Towers Watson says that the overall average salary increase in the UK is forecast to rise to 5% in 2023
