Pay data: three months to January 2022

Various research organisations have published pay data for the three months to the end of January 2022.

  • Data from the Labour Research Department shows the median standard increase for the three months to January at 3.8%.
  • XpertHR recorded a median basic pay award of 3.0% across the whole economy for the three months to the end of January (lower quartile: 2.5%; upper quartile: 4.1%) – the highest level of pay awards recorded by XpertHR since December 2008. Pay freezes stand at 6.9%.
  • The median pay award across the whole economy rose to 3.0% for the three months to January, according to the latest analysis by Incomes Data Research (interquartile range: 2.2%-4.0%).
  • Employers are expecting median basic pay awards to be 3%, according to the Winter 2021-22 Labour Market Outlook from the CIPD.
