Two research organisations have published pay data for the three months to the end of August 2022.

• XpertHR recorded a median basic pay award of 4.0% across the whole economy for the three months to the end of August (lower quartile: 2.9%; upper quartile: 5.0%). The median pay settlement in the services sector (which includes the public sector) is 4%, with the middle half of pay awards sitting between 3% and 5%. In the manufacturing-and-production sector, the median award over the same period is 3.5%. The interquartile range in manufacturing-and-production awards is between 2.5% and 5%.
• Incomes Data Research also show the median at 4% for the same period but with the interquartile range at 3.0% to 5.0%.
