Pay data: three months to July 2022

Various research organisations have published pay data for the three months to the end of July 2022.

  • XpertHR recorded a median basic pay award of 4.0% across the whole economy for the three months to the end of July (lower quartile: 3.0%; upper quartile: 5.0%). Pay freezes remain rare (3%).
  • The median pay award across the whole economy stood at 3.7% for the three months to July, according to the latest analysis by Incomes Data Research (interquartile range: 3.0%-5.0%).
  • In the three months ending in July 2022, the median increase among pay settlements monitored on the Labour Research Department Payline database was 4.9% on lowest pay rates (the lowest basic median) and 4.6% for most workers covered by the settlement (the standard median).
  • The median expected basic pay increase stands at 3% in total, according to the CIPD’s Summer Labour Market Outlook. Expected pay awards in the private sector have risen to a median of 4%, which is the highest dating back to 2012.
