DBS checks: changes from 28 November 2020

Youth cautions, reprimands and warnings will, from 28 November 2020, no longer be automatically disclosed to employers on a Standard or Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate.

The multiple conviction rule will also be removed, meaning that if someone has more than one conviction, regardless of offence type or time passed, each conviction will be considered against the remaining rules individually, rather than all being automatically disclosed on the certificate.

New DBS guidance suggests that employers may want to update their recruitment process to reflect these changes and includes some specimen wording.
