August 2023 inflation data
The UK’s inflation rate in August 2023, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 6.7%.
The detailed inflation measures for the year to August 2023 are as follows:
- CPI inflation was 6.7% in August 2023 (Index: 131.3), down from 6.8% in the year to July
- RPI* inflation was 9.1% in August 2023 (Index: 376.6), up from 9.0% in the year to July
- CPIH inflation was 6.3% in August 2023 (Index: 129.4), down from 6.4% in the year to July
*The Office for National Statistics no longer regards the RPI as an official measure of inflation.
