Subject access: new guidance out for consultation
A consultation has been opened on new guidance relating to the right of access (subject access).
The right, which is outlined in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), allows individuals to find out what personal data is held about them and to obtain a copy of it – see also our guide Handling Subject Access Requests. Initial guidance on this was published in 2018 but this latest consultation contains more detailed guidance which explains in greater detail the rights individuals have and the obligations of data controllers. The consultation is open until 12 February and a copy of the new draft can be accessed via the Information Commissioner’s website.
